An Omen of Before

 I heard you caw and down you flew
landing on my car that is green and blue
you turned your little black head
and stared with your beady little eyes as you said
look deep into my eyes
and see your death and utter demise
is it a car crash or an accidental slip
will you drown in a tub or fall and trip
don't you want to know little girl
when it's your turn to leave this world?
I quickly looked away
afraid of what might happen if I stay
so I turned around and began to walk
but you followed my every move with your talk
I began to feel panic and fear
is this a sign that this crow should appear?
out of thin air
and mutter my despair
in his bird like squawk
why couldn't it have been a hawk?
away he finally went
but it was already too late, my fear was already spent
even after its sudden departing
I felt my soul within in me burning
and my heart gave a little flutter
I could no longer speak, only stutter
could this have been a omen of before
my final death or only the wind and nothing more
was it only my lack of sleep
allowing these thoughts to creep?
so I got into my car and closed my door
I swear I thought I heard the word "Nevermore"
and a tap tap tapping behind me
in panic, I turned to see
but there was no one there
it was only the sun blinding me with its glare
maybe it was only a nightmare?
